Hear stories from our community members and newcomers about finding their home here

Building Your "Home Away From Home"

At X Helping Hands, we believe in empowering newcomers and community members to feel seen, supported, and connected while learning about the land they now call home
~ Tavneet (founder and executive director)

A Platform for Your Voice

We believe every newcomer has a story that deserves to be heard. Through our interviews and blogs, we amplify the lived experiences of international students and immigrants—celebrating resilience, sharing struggles, and fostering understanding across cultures.

Connection Beyond the Campus

Breaking out of the "university bubble" can be hard. We create inclusive spaces and events where students and locals can meet, exchange skills, and support one another. Whether it's navigating housing, finding part-time work, or just making a friend, we are here to bridge the gap.

Expanding Our Circle of Care

True community has no borders. We actively step out to support and learn from diverse local groups—like our recent visit to L'Arche Antigonish. By sharing time, stories, and smiles with people of all abilities, we break down barriers and remind ourselves that everyone has a unique gift to bring to our shared home.

Stay Connected to Your Community.

Be the first to know about upcoming events, new stories, and resources for newcomers in Antigonish & Pictou County.
