Moving from the busy city of Toronto to the charming town of Antigonish in the fall of 2020 was an exciting experience for me, eh. However, like any big change, it came with its own set of challenges. Here, I share my experience of the problems I faced and how I overcame them, eh.

One of the biggest challenges for me was getting used to the slower pace of life in Antigonish. In Toronto, everything was fast-paced and efficient, but in Antigonish, things moved at a much slower pace. I found myself getting frustrated with the long wait times at restaurants (especially at the Inn during the wing night), the limited shopping options, and the lack of public transportation. Additionally, the pandemic made it harder to make new friends and find social activities to do.

To overcome these challenges, I had to adjust my expectations and embrace the slower pace of life. I began to appreciate the small-town charm of Antigonish, and I started to explore the natural beauty of the town. I also found ways to connect with the local community by volunteering at events and joining societies at the X. These activities helped me to make new friends and form a social circle.

For upcoming students planning to move to Antigonish, my advice is to keep an open mind and be willing to adapt. Embrace the slower pace of life and take advantage of the natural beauty of the town. Join societies, clubs, sports, and participate in activities to meet new people and form connections. And most importantly, be patient and kind to yourself as you adjust to your new environment. With time and effort, you can find your place in Antigonish and make it your home away from home.
